One of the major threats to our community or the population at large is antibiotics resistance. This occurs when bacteria develop the ability to suppress the drugs intended to kill it.
According to Centre for Disease Control (CDC), most antibiotics were prescribed for no good cause. Educating the general public on effective use of antibiotics and the unintended consequences of overuse would go a long way to keep the general public healthy and also preserve the effectiveness of using such medications in the future.
When Do I Need Antibiotics?
Antibiotics are meant to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as Strep, UTI, Pneumonia, STD and some life-threatening infections like Sepsis. Antibiotics are not effective in the treatment of Viral infections like common cold, Flu, Bronchitis, running nose.
